Trunk Lift Pro's Pick has solved the problem of getting an electro/mechanical trunk latch to work properly in street rods -- just install the trunk lift, it not only opens and closes the trunk lid, it holds it shut. It's so installer friendly that anybody should be able to install this unit in about 1 hour with a minimal amount of hand tools. The unit tucks neatly behind the upholstered quarter panel, requiring a single 1" diameter hole through the upholstery panel, not a large half moon slot. The only thing that will be visible are the aluminum arms and the bracket mounted to the trunk lid. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE BATTERY DIES AND IT'S IN THE TRUNK? --- The PROS-PICK / ROCKY HINGE exclusive ESCAPE SYSTEM. As shown in the photo, the rectangular milled aluminum bracket mounted to the trunk lid and attached to the short arm is a cable operated release mechanism. Pull the cable handle which should be mounted outside of the trunk area, and the small arm will drop away from the ESCAPE SYSTEM, allowing the trunk lid to be opened manually. Pro's Pick / Rocky Hinge Emergency Release If there is no access from the passenger compartment to the trunk we would definitely use on of the these with the single arm trunk lift. The large billet bracket that attaches the lift arm to the trunk lid is actually a cable operated release mechanism. If for some reason the lift unit fails to operate, you simply pull the cable and the latch will let go of the arm, allowing you to lift the lid manually. |
